The Department of Education, Culture and Sport, through the Division of Culture and University Studies, presented officially on August, 11th the swiss Italian Literary Guide project at the Spazio Magnolia (RSI) in Locarno.
The project involves the creation of an anthology of literary citations related to our region and his mapping. The proposal, under the direction of the Cultural Observatory of Cantone Ticino in collaboration with the Visual Culture Laboratory (SUPSI), foresees the realisation of an anthology of literary citations related to our territory and their mapping.
Several Swiss and foreign writers have lived or stayed in our region, including renowned people such as Ernest Hemingway, Hermann Hesse, Patricia Highsmith, Arthur Rimbaud, Ignazio Silone, Elias Canetti, Eugenio Montale, Giacomo Casanova, Erich Maria Remarque, Max Frisch and others.
The landscape of Italian-speaking Switzerland has inspired writers and poets, who have described and illustrated it in pages of prose, poetry, letters, journals and travel diaries. As a whole, these descriptions represent a way to read over time changes in the territory. The Literary Guide aims to place value on this important literary heritage, foster awareness of the authors and spread their works with innovative methods among resident population and tourists.
The project was launched in early 2019 and currently counts over 380 citations, around one hundred authors and 36 places such as houses of birth, burial sites and commemorative plaques. The audience will soon be involved in giving useful information and references, promoting so the birth of readers community.
The project benefits from the support of Federal Aid for Italian language and culture.
